What is a Storeroom Lockset?

Most people who have lived in an apartment building have used a storeroom function lock at some point. They are commonly used for laundry rooms, underground parking , swimming pools, garbage collection areas and even storage rooms. These locks operate the door with a key from the outside, and allow easy egress from the inside. They cannot be set to an un-locked position… they are always locked.

Though not commonly used in residences, we are experiencing an increasing demand from home owners looking for a door handle that is always locked. Consumers are using storeroom locks for rooms containing wine cellars, home offices, workshops, collections etc. At Schlage it is known as a #80 (or ANSI F86) function. The most common style is our ball shape knob in a satin chrome finish. It can be found in many retail stores with our Commercial Applications products.

Our electronic keypad levers can be ordered in an F575 configuration, which acts as a storeroom lock. It will open only with a key,  or valid 4 digit user code. It is suitable for indoor applications only however, as the battery is located on the exterior housing. Be sure to ask your Schlage representative about your storeroom lock needs.
